The artichoke I have been watching is really starting to take shape. I have been tempted to harvest it, but I'm going to give it a couple more days to make sure it's really mature. The other artichoke in the garden is starting to form as well; though, I don't know if the cold weather will catch up to it before it is able to complete the process. Time will tell. These artichokes are such interesting creatures.
Remarkable! Looking really ornamental, like a strange budding flower, not at all edible! Any plans on how you will prepare him?
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I will prepare him, Eva. I remember eating artichokes as a child at your house with vinegar, I think. Do you know how those were prepared?
ReplyDeleteHi again, friend! My dad steamed them and then we dipped the leaves and heart into a vinegar/oil/salt/pepper mixture. (I recommend adding a bit of mustard to this vinaigrette for emulsification.) bon appetit!
ReplyDeleteOh Eva, I knew I could count on you! I can't think of a better way to prepare this little artichoke. Thanks!
