Gone is the Butterfly

I've been missing the warm weather quite a bit lately, so I thought I would post a couple of summery outdoor photos to cheer me up.

I spent more time outdoors this summer than I have in a long time. Afternoons at the playground with the kids, lunches in the park, evening bike rides; it was all so reenergizing.

Here's to summer and to a wonderful season in which I redisovered my love for the outdoors. I will try to enjoy the winter and appreciate it for what it has to offer; but I will still be looking forward to spring. Boy, it's way too early to be tired of this cold weather, isn't it?

  1. Love the sentiment here, Luke, and the photos. I'm not sure if I recognize the butterfly - is it a red admiral? Is this your own garden?

  2. Dear Luke,
I appreciated very much our periodic sunny rendez-vous at Jackson Marrow park this past summer. To see you coming as a speck on the horizon on your bike was a real joy. See you tomorrow night!

  3. Aunt Sue, I'm really not sure what kind of butterfly that is. The picture was taken in Valerie's mom's garden. I have not seen many butterflies around my house the past couple of years. We used to have a butterfly bush, but we tried to move it and it died. When it was alive, it really did attract the butterflies. I miss it.

  4. Eva, the lunches at the park were wonderful. I hope to see you again from time to time at the picnic table when the warm weather returns. I really looked forward to it, and it brightened my day.

  7. I just got a new hummingbird/butterfly book. The butterfly in your beautiful photo is a Painted Lady!
